Potato Varieties Response to Soil Matric Potential Based Irrigation

چکیده

Potato is one of the most cropped plants worldwide. Hundreds different varieties are cultivated only in North America. growers usually crop multiple on their farms to answer market demands for potato’s specific physical properties. However, few pieces information available regarding optimal management irrigation across potato varieties. Knowing that modern potatoes share genetics similarities, comfort zone might be same groups This study evaluates effect precision thresholds yields three (Envol: very early, Kalmia: and Red Maria: mid-late) with maturity classes. In a greenhouse, soil matric potential sensor network used combination precise system allows identification common threshold, allowing paper presents first an −15 kPa, shared by The threshold identified this not dependent class, plant height or tuber production. determination will allow adapt farm processes integrate more sustainable water practices as they able irrigate field threshold.

Growth and yield response of potato genotypes to deficit irrigation

In Ardabil region potato crop needs several irrigation, however ground water supplies arebeing exhausted due to reduced precipitation and intensive irrigation. In this research droughttolerance of 10 commercial potato cultivars was studied at three irrigation treatments (100%,80% and 60% of required irrigation water) in Ardabil in a two years field study, 2013-2014.At harvest, marketable tuber ...

Tensiometer-Based Irrigation Management of Subirrigated Soilless Tomato: Effects of Substrate Matric Potential Control on Crop Performance

Automatic irrigation scheduling based on real-time measurement of soilless substrate water status has been recognized as a promising approach for efficient greenhouse irrigation management. Identification of proper irrigation set points is crucial for optimal crop performance, both in terms of yield and quality, and optimal use of water resources. The objective of the present study was to deter...

Soil salinity and matric potential interaction on water use, water use efficiency and yield response factor of bean and wheat

We studied the effects of soil matric potential and salinity on the water use (WU), water use efficiency (WUE) and yield response factor (Ky), for wheat (Triticum aestivum cv. Mahdavi) and bean (Phaseoulus vulgaris cv. COS16) in sandy loam and clay loam soils under greenhouse conditions. Results showed that aeration porosity is the predominant factor controlling WU, WUE, Ky and shoot biomass (B...

Response of Wheat to Soil Amendments with Poor Quality Irrigation Water in Salt Affected Soil

The experiment was conducted on farmer’s field at District Lakki Marwat (NWFP) during Rabi (spring) 2007-08, in order to study the response of wheat to different soil treatments irrigated with poor quality irrigation water. The treatments including control, tillage, gypsum and sulphuric acid were applied before sowing of the wheat crop. The treatments were arranged in a randomized complete bloc...

Economic Potential of Compost Amendment as an Alternative to Irrigation in Maine Potato Production Systems

Potato productivity in the northeastern US has been relatively constant for over 50 years, raising questions about what factors are limiting productivity. Research was initiated in 2004 to identify key constraints to potato productivity by evaluating Status Quo (SQ), Soil Conserving (SC), and Soil Improving (SI) cropping systems under both rainfed and irrigated management, and it was found that...
